Reuben Hyde Walworth, 1788-1867. Jurist and last chancellor of New York State, admitted to the bar, 1809, representative to Congress from twelfth district, 1821-1823. Appointed circuit judge of the supreme court for the fourth judicial district of New York, 1823, appointed Chancellor in 1828. Retired from bench in 1828. Recommended for Supreme Court vacancy in 1844 and ran unsuccessfully as Democrat in 1848 election for governor.
